The Basement Jaxx are back with their newest album, “Scars.” If one were to attempt to define the band and subsequent album, it would be greeted with stumped frowns. They’re part hip-hop, part rock, part electronica and all loud addictive dancepop! The album has its highs and lows but won’t make any newbie a fan.The songs never quite unify; there are songs with great beats but lacking lyrical power and vice versa.
The best part is the variety of artists that may catch your eye if not your ear. Did you ever imagine hearing Yoko Ono and Kellis on an album together, albeit a dance album? How’s your mind? Blown? An entertaining odyssey into the world of raving glowsticks.
